PIT Talking Points

I have a personal phlisophy that public relations is about storytelling. As I kid, I loved to write and read. My parents instilled a love for reading in me young. I loved crafting and telling tales to my younger sister. She used to beg me every night to tell her updates to the ones I told her the night before. And that’s when I discovered I had a knack for that. I discovered the power of words and how words can shape narratives, connect people, and influence perception. Now I could have been a writer, but I wanted to be more active in the world than that. I initially wanted to go into business, then I realized that I don’t like microeconomics, so I returned to my roots. I returned to what i loved and it was writing but with a purpose. That’s what led me to pursue a career in public relations. I wanted to work in a field where I could use my storytelling skills to craft compelling, authentic messages that resonate with audiences. My goal is to help others tell their stories in meaningful ways – stories that inform, inspire, and leave a lasting impression.

  1. What are your top workplace skills
  • I think my most vital skill is that I care, which I feel is rare because we live in a world where not everyone does. I would say my empathy and desire to connect with others through the use of words is the skill I am most proud of.
  1. What was the assignment you are most proud of while pursuing your degree?
  • Personally, I am most proud of my feature story because I got a chance to speak to someone about themselves and unearth things about them that I could turn into a story because despite what they thought about themselves they were actually very interesting. Everyone has a story and it’s always a pleasure to be able to get to know them.
  1. What do you bring to this job?
  • I think I bring a fresh perspective not just because I’m young but because I have experiences and skills that I’ve learned to help me keep up with an ever-changing digital world.
  1. What is you weakeness
  • I would say that often I try to take on a lot of things at once mostly because i am eager to get involved and help where I can.
  1. What is your strength ( plural answer)
  • I think my strenght lies in the creativity I am able to produce. I love thinking outside the box and finding new angles to attack a project with.
  1. What is the value of a PR concentration in journalism?
  • I think it gives me a more nuanced look into how the media works. I am better able to understand what is newsworthy and worth focusing on a company’s resources on because frankly if the journalist doesn’t care neither does the audience. Studying PR under this concentration gives me an edge in what will gain the most traction with actual audiences.
  1. Why should we hire you?
  • I think you should hire me if you want someone that will liven up your company and tell you exactly want you need to take the company to the next level and prepare both for growth and challenges.
  1. What makes you an exceptional candidate?
  • I’m sharp and I know what it takes to put out great work.
  1. What are your top three PR skills
  • I would say writing pitches, crafting media list and sending out press releases.
  1. What is going on at the Mayborn are they closing the school
  • They aren’t closing down the school but in light of several things outside UNT’s control, there have been a few programs being closed down because of a lack of enrollment as far as international students are concerned. That is, however, all I can say on the matter because i don’t know the ins and outs of the situation.
